Conversations

My character was Michelle Andrews, a painter hippy who is inspired by music and nature. I used a combination of true and made up answers.

Lay It All Out

Photos of all the projects mixed together

Reflection

I painted a girl wearing a mask on to a mirror for the word reflection. I left the eyes open to reveal the mirror and allow the viewer to see their own eyes. I chose a mask to represent our identity within ourselves and in the outside word. The colors I used are for an imaginary/ dreamlike feel.

Walk The Line Artists Responses

Janine Antoni - I wasn't that impressed with the walk the line piece she created. I did like the part when she was walking "on" the horizon line over the ocean. The first part however, seemed a little bit too much like gymnastics.

William Pope. L - His Crawling piece was interesting. It seemed like a difficult thing to do, crawling the distance that he did for the piece. I think he made his point and definitely caught the attention of the public.

Francis Alys - I liked his idea to push the ice block through town. I think it was really interesting to see how it melted and how long it took to actually disappear.

Walk The Line

To walk a line takes courage, a lack of fear of others thoughts and judgements. It also forces us to break the restraints we put on ourselves. Failure must be excepted and refused at the same time. We must follow our dreams through the unforeseen darkness we call life.

For these photos, I carried a flashlight while I walked and ran in different directions while capturing it on camera. I left the exposure open for an extended amount of time to create the movement. I used two flashlights in each photo, holding one in each hand.
